Head of Business Intake

Our client is Australia’s leading independent law firm, delivering exceptional legal services across major transactions, projects, and disputes. The Risk & Legal Excellence team plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the firm’s reputation and ensuring regulatory excellence.

As the SME for AML Compliance, you’ll lead the development of the firm’s AML/CTF program and build a specialist team from the ground up. This is a career-defining opportunity to make your mark as Australia rolls out Tranche 2 reforms.

About the Role:

‍

• Provide strategic direction in designing the AML/CTF compliance program, risk assessments, and policies

• Oversee implementation of the program, including training and communications, engagement with key stakeholders, audits and regular review

• Ensure ongoing compliance with AML/CTF Laws and the firm’s legal and professional obligations

• Oversee client and matter due diligence, AML/CTF risk assessments, and compliance processes

• Lead the Business Intake Team, including recruitment and structuring the team for optimal performance

• Work closely with key leadership and senior management to achieve best-practice Business Intake outcomes

• Drive continual improvement and greater efficiencies aligned with the firm's legal and regulatory obligations

About You:

‍

• You’re experienced in leading AML/CTF compliance within a law firm

• You bring a strong understanding of AML requirements and risks associated with the legal industry

• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and manage AML compliance programs

• In-depth knowledge of KYC/CDD processes

• Experienced in using Intapp Risk, Orbis, World-Check, or similar platforms

• Proven people management experience
